Model
FosterEd partners with state and local agencies to develop and implement a continuous cycle of data-driven interventions:
1 Identification of educational strengths and needs: The educational strengths and needs of both the foster child and the adults in their life are identified. The adults are surveyed to measure the degree to which they have the characteristics found in actively engaged parents.
2 Selection of educational champion(s): Educational champions are selected and informed of their rights and responsibilities. Courts participate in this process as allowed by state law. Whenever possible biological parents are educational champions.
3 Individualized coaching of educational champion(s): Driven by identified needs, educational champions are provided coaching to ensure they have the beliefs, capacities and behaviors found in actively engaged parents.
The cycle is repeated periodically to evaluate the success of the coaching, identify new strengths and needs, and target new interventions as needed.
